First Night Home

We gave Makayla her first bath tonight!
Makayla's first night did not go as well as expected. She was up several times in the night. Scott and I took turns trying to console her. Her swing is about the only thing that will soothe her when she's upset. She started out in her bassinet in our room, but would wake herself up with the hiccups. Jen finally gave up and let her sleep in the swing while Jen slept the rest of the morning on the couch. Hopefully tonight goes better!

Scott and Jennifer...

You don't know me... but I'm a "blog-friend" of JoEllen's... congratulations on your BEAUTIFUL little girl!!

This is absolutely NONE of my business... but I just had to share a tip that I have become a total believer in... I am a NICU nurse and we of course see tons of babies go home on meds for reflux, etc. You had mentioned Makayla may have reflux as well... Anyway, my best friend struggled terribly with this in her newborn and had no luck with medication. After a couple months - a friend suggested taking her to a chiropractor of all people. He stopped the meds the first day... and literally in one week (3 visits)... the fussing and spitting were almost completely gone.

Since this... I have heard of 2 other families who have had this success. I'm amazed that it's not something we suggest to families in the hospital. According to chiropractors... many times the stress and manipulation in the birth process cause misalignment issues in babies that have a great deal to do with their reflux.

Again - none of my business but I'm totally fascinated by it and it would be the first thing I would try with my baby if it was an issue! Just a thought!

Congratulations again!!!

Meghan,
The medicine has been working very well so far. But what you mentioned is interesting. My massage therapist actually said the same thing but we thought it sounded crazy. It's something to think about though.
